Sunglasses are not just about having a dark lens! They should protect the eyes from potentially damaging strong sunlight.
Light from the ‘visible’ end of the sun’s radiation is blocked simply by having a darkened lens, but the harmful UV rays will still pass through, with the potential of causing damage to the internal structures of the eye.
