EyeDream is a vision therapy that brings a modern approach to a technique known as orthokeratology. EyeDream provides clear, comfortable vision without the need to wear contact lenses during the day. No more restrictions on how long you wear your lenses, no more irritation in dry, smoky environments or at the end of a long day.

EyeDream is ideal for low-mid short sighted people who:

•Want clear natural vision all day – every day

•Find soft contact lenses do not fulfil the comfort demands their life-style places on their eyes

•Are involved in recreational and sports activities where periods without wearing contact lenses is ideal

•Have considered refractive surgery because of the freedom it provides, but are worried about the risks

So how is this possible?

Very simply, EyeDream is a specially designed contact lens that reverses the power of the cornea, at the front of the eye during overnight wear. Once the full effect has taken place, the eye is effectively ‘normal’ and can see clearly during the day.

With EyeDream you will benefit from:

•Freedom from contact lenses and glasses during the day

•Very easy adaptation, only overnight lens wear required

•A comfortable, semi-permanent alternative for the correction of short sightedness

•A safe and reversible vision correction therapy without surgery

EyeDream for Children

Controling Short-sight (Myopia Control)

Many studies have shown that lenses like EyeDream can reduce the progression of short-sightedness, reducing the likelihood of associated problems in adulthood. The effect is not guaranteed, as results vary for individual children, but it has never been shown to make children more short-sighted. An additional benefit of this, is that spectacles don’t have to be changed as a child’s short-sight worsens.

Coloured Overlays & Colorimetry

There is now scientific research to show that both coloured filters (worn as spectacles) and coloured plastic sheets laid over text (known as overlays) can help some children and adults to read.

Coloured overlays reduce the perceptual distortions of text that people sometimes describe. They enable some children to read text more fluently and with less discomfort and fewer headaches

The Coloured Overlay Assessment involves assessing the effects of a wide range of colours. One way of assessing benefit is for the examiner to administer the Wilkins Rate of Reading Test. The test consists simply of a passage of randomly ordered words that the patient is required to read aloud as rapidly and as accurately as possible. The rate of reading words on this test is usually more than 10% higher with the chosen overlay than without in children who will subsequently make frequent use of their overlay.

After a successful trial using the coloured overlay for a few weeks Intuitive Colorimetry is carried out to prescribe coloured lenses.

Coloured Overlay assessment is a private examination and is not covered on the NHS, book your appointment now if you feel Colorimetry could benefit you.

Diabetic Retinopathy Screening

Diabetes is a long-term condition caused by too much glucose (sugar) in the blood. There are two types:

Type 1 diabetes is where your body does not produce any insulin, so insulin injections are needed for the rest of your life. It often develops during the teenage years.

Type 2 diabetes (the most common type) is where your body does not produce enough insulin, or your body’s cells do not react to insulin. It usually affects people over 45 years of age.

Diabetic retinopathy is a possible complication of diabetes. It occurs when high blood sugar levels damage the cells at the back of the eye, known as the retina. If it is not treated, it can lead to vision problems.

Therefore, it is important for people with diabetes to keep their blood sugar levels under control. Everyone with diabetes who is 12 years old or over should have their eyes examined once a year for signs of damage.

This is a service we offer at every Pinders practice providing an easy to reach service within the community.  All Diabetic patients will be invited for regular annual screening by the North Nottinghamshire Screening Program.  You are not eligible for this service till you have received you recall letter.  This is covered by the NHS.
