£1584.50 Raised for APTCOO!By Martine | Sunday, July 9th, 2017
Our staff have been very busy over the last 2 weeks with fundraising events to support this year’s charity APTCOO. They have raised a whopping £1584.50 thanks to the support of our customers, families, friends and the local community.
Our first event was a 5k inflatable obstacle run on the 24th of June.
The girls at our Queen Street practice were trying to come up with an interesting way of raising money for APTCOO.
So, in February when an inflatable 5k obstacle race advertised they thought they would give it a go. So, six enrolled with the average age of 47, a dislike of heights and definitely no athletic ability! Luckily Optometrist Hannah Shooter, a triathlon champion herself, offered coaching sessions for our brave staff!
Race day arrived Saturday 24th June the brave six became the brave twelve with the addition of our family and friends. The 5k inflatable obstacle race at Colwick Racecourse Nottingham was completed by all with finishing times ranging from 27 to 90 minutes. All 10 obstacles were attempted bouncing our way around the 5k course. Everyone managed to conquer their fear of heights by finishing with either the Leap of Faith or the Plummet. We’d thank our families, work colleagues, friends and patients that have sponsored and supported us helping to raise a fantastic £1267!
Our second event took place at Warsop Carnival where staff held a tombola stall. The good weather meant large crowds attended the event and they raised a fantastic £317.50!
